Bryan Habana on brink of try record

Bryan Habana‚ playing his 120th test for the Springboks when they meet the Wallabies in Brisbane today‚ is on the brink of yet another record in his illustrious career.

The wing needs one more try to score 10 tries against a single opponent for the first time.

He has already scored 65 test tries‚ nine of which have come against the Wallabies in 22 appearances.

And there is a good omen in there for the Boks too. When Habana scores against Australia‚ the Boks tend to win. He has only once scored a try in a losing cause against the Wallabies.

Allister Coetzee’s side could do with some Habana magic as he has not scored against them since 2012.

But Habana’s try-scoring prowess is just one subplot to a match that has serious ramifications for whichever team loses.

The Wallabies are on a sixmatch losing streak‚ dating back to last year’s World Cup final against the All Blacks. Another loss‚ against a Springbok team in transition‚ on home soil‚ would put massive pressure on coach Michael Cheika.
