Uitenhage victors in close match

UITENHAGE High defeated St Thomas by four wickets in a closely contested schools cricket match at St Thomas on Saturday.

Despite a good all-round performance by St Thomas player Tino Bamboo, the home side conceded too many extras (22) in their stint in the field and this cost them dearly.

Bamboo top-scored with 17 in St Thomas's total of 79, while Ryan Schreuder (2/0 in two overs) and Imraan Mohammed (2/7 in three overs) excelled with the ball for Uitenhage.

The visitors lost six wickets as Pumelele Willie (2/6) and Bamboo (2/11) tried hard for St Thomas, only for their efforts to be in vain.

Graeme v Muir

MUIR College produced a sound batting performance which ultimately led to a draw in their schools cricket clash against Graeme in Grahamstown on Saturday.

Batting first, the Uitenhage side declared their innings on 265/8 after 63 overs, leaving Graeme the difficult task of scoring seven runs an over for victory.

The home side took up the challenge, but lost quick wickets in the process and ended up having to play out for a draw when a thunderstorm washed out the match with their score on 130/7.
