Warriors to draw on better batting

THEY say a tie in a cricket match can be compared to kissing your sister. Spare a thought then for the Chevrolet Warriors, who have deadlocked their last two Ram Slam T20 Challenge matches.

Not that coach Piet Botha is complaining. "I suppose a tie is better than losing, although it does not do much for the heart rate. I don't know if I'll reach 50 at this rate," Botha, 47, said yesterday of his team's world- record achievement.

Two ties have yielded the team six log points and moved them into sixth position.

The Warriors face the Knights in Kimberley tonight (6pm). The Warriors have endured a rollercoaster ride in this campaign. They started with wins against the Lions and Knights, suffered two losses and then the two ties. However, they still find themselves in the play-off positions and will draw motivation from that.
