Glenville teams bag two trophies in Nafa Junior Cup

GLENVILLE won two of the four trophies on offer in the Nafa Junior KO Cup final day at the Gelvan Stadium on Sunday.

The Premier League champions under-nine team beat Park United 2-1 on penalties after the match ended in a goalless draw.

They won their second trophy when their U17 team beat Windvogel All Stars 2-0 after a goalless first half. Bevan Jansen and Aireec Joseph scored for Glenville in the second half.

Reeve Frosler and Junaid Mamojee scored on either side of the break to help Fairview Rovers beat Stardrift 2-0 to win the U11 trophy.

Windvogel did not end the day empty-handed when a strike by Keegan Malgas gave them the U13 trophy.

They beat Rangers 1-0.

The U15 final between Fairview Rovers and Lads was postponed due to a death in the Lads camp and will be played at the Windvogel grounds on Saturday.

CALLIES juniors made up for the disappointing season of their seniors when they won U13 and U15 KO Cup titles at the Westbourne Oval on Saturday.

It was also a good day for St George's, who won the U9 and U11 trophies. In a thrilling sudden-death penalty shootout, NMMU Madibaz beat Callies 8-7 to win the U15 cup after coming back from 4-1 down to force the match into extra time.

EBENEZER won both the U11 and U13 finals of the Nafa League Cup finals played at the Errol Heynes Field on Saturday. In the U11 final, Ebenezer scored through Ruvaldo Klaas, Gascoine Oosthuizen, Keenan Holster and Warrick Plaaitjies in their 4-1 win over Saints. The consolation score for Saints came from an own goal.

In the U13 final, they beat Saints 2-0, with Diego Appolis and Kyle Heynesen scoring in the second half.

In the first match of the day, a goal on either side of the break by Curcual January helped Blackpool beat Stardrift 2-1. Jamie Seale scored for Stardift

In the U15 final, Fairview Rovers thrashed Saints 5-0 after leading 1-0 at the break. Reeve Frosler led the onslaught with a hattrick. Mano Tarentaal and Sachin Johnson added one each.

In the last match of the day, Glenville won the U17 championship, beating Lakeshire Rovers 3-0 after leading 2-0 at the break. Darren Whitebooi, Dimarco Booysen and Dylon Goliath scored the goals.

REAL Brothers beat Lorraine 2-0 in the finals of the Kuygafa Build-It U13 tournament on Sunday.

In the semifinals, Lorraine beat Heroes 4-3, while Brothers beat St Albans 3-0.
