SUBS continued from where they left off last week when they beat HIghland Spurs 2-0 in a Safa-NMB Premier league match played at the NU2 Stadium in Motherwell on Saturday.

Last week they thrashed pre-season favourites Lion City 4-0 while Spurs beat Tomorrow Stars 2-0.

City bounced back from the shock defeat to beat Motherwell Academy 3-0 after leading 2-0 at the break. Both goals in the first half came from headers. The first was by Thamsanqa Gwabeni, who nodded home a free kick taken by Akhona Manqola.

Kwanele Mnikina headed home a corner taken by man of the match Malibongwe Maseti. In the second half, Thulani Shumpa put matters beyond doubt when he lobbed the ball over the advancing Motherwell keeper.

There was a vast improvement in the number of goals scored this week as the teams appeared to find their feet.

Walmer outfit Peace United registered their second 1-1 draw when they came from a goal down at the break to share the points with Sunrise Development. Mzwandile Ngqishi scored for United.

Fairview Rovers beat Camper United 3-1 at the Finnis Street field after leading 1-0 at the break.

Rovers dominated the match and could have been leading by far more than the solitary goal by Megan August.

After the break August scored his second before Camper pulled one back. Keenan Samery made the final score 3-1.

Hotspurs played their second goalless draw when they shared the points with Despatch Pioneers.

Yesterday, Callies beat Central Acemates 2-1 at the Victoria Park field. A John Giannakis header saw Callies leading 1-0 at half time.

After the break, Dili Gubuza levelled it for Acemates before another header by Giannakis sealed the game for Callies.
