Chinese national arrested at CPT airport

A 32-year-old Chinese national was arrested at Cape Town International Airport yesterday for allegedly transporting five kilograms of rhino horn and chucked abalone.
The suspect, who police are not naming until he appears in court, is currently in custody and will appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court once he has been charged.
Western Cape police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk said the suspect was en-route to Durban when the Border Police- anti-smuggling team apprehended him.
He will be charged under the Nature Conservation and Marine Coastal Resources Acts and appear in court shortly.
