Sanctor Primary under siege from rubbish

Building rubble, dirty nappies and asbestos sheeting are just some of the things Sanctor Primary School pupils see every morning when they arrive at school.

Piles of rubbish are being illegally dumped outside the school, with filth pressing up against the fencing surrounding the school grounds.

The problem was first reported in November, with the situation worsening since. Now, the Grade 7 pupils have been tasked with cleaning up the mess whenever the wind blows the rubbish into the school grounds.

Making the situation even worse is the stench emanating from the rotting rubbish.

Deputy principal Greg McCullum said he was concerned about the health of the school’s 650 pupils.

“The school is supposed to be a safe haven for children, one that is clean, but with all this rubbish it is difficult for us to give the school a clean bill of health,” he said.
