Pearston school still closed as teacher crisis drags on

TWO weeks after angry parents closed down Pearston Primary School due to a severe teacher shortage that saw more than 100 pupils stuffed into a single classroom, the school remains deserted.

Despite concerns that their children were missing out on their studies, parents said it was a sacrifice they were forced to make.

The school in Pearston, more than 200km north of Port Elizabeth, needs eight teachers. - Zandile Mbabela
