Woman held after house raided

A WOMAN was arrested after thousands of rands' worth of suspected stolen goods and drugs were found in KwaDwesi yesterday.

Captain André Beetge said members of the housebreaking task team acted on a tip-off about stolen goods at a house in Barayi Street, KwaDwesi Extension.

Items found in a search included 10 cellphones and a plasma TV, which they suspect are stolen.

An assortment of drugs was also found.

These included 95 mandrax tablets and small amounts of dagga and tik, as well as pipes used for smoking tik.

A 40-year-old woman will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court tomorrow.

Beetge said police wanted to thank the community for "standing up against criminal elements in their neighbourhood". - Riaan Marais
