Fraud: sites act to halt cyber crooks

SOUTH Africa's top online purchasing and sales websites are making scam ads a "top priority" and have already introduced strict measures to reduce fraud.
The Herald reported this week that Nelson Mandela Bay police were investigating more than 100 cases of online fraud linked to two of the most popular South African sites – Gumtree and OLX.
Yesterday, the two said they had established dedicated teams to screen and block all suspected and suspicious scam ads before they even reached the website. - Gareth Wilson
