NMU student ensembles to swing it at Jazz’Afro Sundays

The second of the Youth Month performances on the Jazz’Afro Sundays stage at the Opera House Barn will be two Nelson Mandela University jazz student ensembles.
Both ensembles will feature a diverse group of jazz students ranging from first to final year.
The concert is at 5pm on Sunday, but since seating is limited it is best to arrive early.
Several of the students, Temba Ncetani, Hezron Armoed and Elviro Vrolik, are already performing professionally throughout the Bay and have also featured at the National Arts Festival and other notable live performance venues.Jazz Studies lecturers and ensemble leaders John Edwards on piano and Curtis Kettledas on alto saxophone will also perform a few numbers with the bands.
There will also be special guest performances by former students such as Kyle du Preez on trombone.
The bands will present a repertoire that is representative of a variety of jazz styles including Afro-jazz, salsa, swing and jazz-rock.
Entry is R70 (R50 for pensioners). There will be a a cash bar.
