Shaking the chill at record label launch

NOT even the chilly weather could keep Skinnerbek away from the streets this past weekend.

When I received an invite to the Eastern Cape Provincial Record Label artists' launch at the PE Opera House, I knew I couldn't miss it for the world.

I mean, who wouldn't want to be part of the journey to see the birth of the stars in our region?

Wow! The director of the recording label, Ntuli Simon, looked so cool without his dreadlocks. People came from as far as Lusikisiki to support the artists.

It was good to see Novelile Mlaza who looked beautiful in her traditional Xhosa outfit. She was with Tomokazi Notshaya who also rocked in a traditional outfit.

Novelile came to support her daughter Csana, who apparently is the next big thing in the music industry. But those purple heels! No, no, no girl! But issues of style can be worked on – vocally she is a powerhouse to look out for.

The MC for the evening was none other than Umhlobo Wenene FM's Putco Mafani. He had everyone in stitches with his jokes. Music mogul Peter Tladi was also there and I must say, through all that nodding, he must have had a good time ...

Shem! Thandokazi could not help but cry during her performance. I'm sure, dahling, with time you'll get used to the crowd.

Shuu! Shoelace left my jaws hanging ... those boys are just on a level of their own.

Then there was kwaiti group Mboza. Pity one of the members decided to expose his fat belly. Eeew!

Ntando Bangani was one of the guest artists and I just wish he could have performed more of his songs.

So Skyy Vodka invited the Bay's who's who to their Elevated Experience at the swanky Radisson Blu Hotel and, of course, your gossip girl got an invite.

Two things about PE girls: they are H-O-T hot and they don't get cold.

Girls were in the shortest of dresses and the highest of heels dancing to the club bangers by the awesome DJs. Fistaz Mixwell, Naves and Spectacular sure know what the dance floor wants, but shem – that DJ Ph (who happens to hail from East London) made it hard to leave the dance floor even for a loo break.

Ja, my feet hated me the next day for the abuse of dancing on heels all night but, hey, any excuse to go to the spa right?

The usual Cubana crowd was there, including the municipality's head of economic development Anele Qaba (who's looking trimmer and trimmer ... or was I fooled by the vodka in me?); head of corporate services Mod Ndoyana, and New Brighton tavern owner Chief Ngqoko (who is about 60 but looks in his late 40s at the most ... again, it could have been the Skyy).

PE can party man! Ciao for now dahlings! Do keep warm.
