Boston event next for Eastern Cape runner, but Rio Olympics also on the agenda.

Older and wiser, Lusapho April says he has learnt from mistakes he made in the Boston and New York marathons last year, and plans to hit the podium in his next US assault.

The quietly-spoken runner, who grew up in Langa township in Uitenhage, was this week named as one of the international elite runners who will compete in Boston on April 20.

“I learnt a lot in both races and I think we’re going to get it right this time,” he said yesterday.

April, 32, believes he pushed too early on both occasions.

“I need to get back to basics. The later you make your move the better. I think I’m good enough to win.”
