Summerstrand sink rivals to claim title
SUMMERSTRAND emerged as the Eastern Cape surf lifesaving champions when they beat all opposition in the provincial competition at Kings Beach.
The Summerstrand club finished the competition on Sunday with a handsome return of 204 points, well clear of second-placed East London SLC, who earned 134 points.
Summerstrand also supplied the best woman of the day in Britney Linder, while the men's competitor of the day award went to Sardinia Bay's Jason Jones.
Sardinia Bay ended third overall.
The juniors title went to Kings Beach on 554 points, with Summerstrand second on 426 points.
The results were:
Juniors: 1 Kings Beach 554, 2 Summerstrand 426, 3 Woodridge College 374, 4 East London 165, 5 Hobie Beach 43, 6 Bluewater Bay and Sardinia Bay 5.
Top women: U15: Amica de Jager (Woodridge); U17: Chrystal Hullett (Woodridge); U19: Dee Kotze (Kings Beach).
Top men: U15: Alex de Charlain (Kings Beach); U17: Daniel Jones (Summerstrand); U19: Wayne Jones (Summerstrand).
Seniors: 1 Summerstrand 204, 2 East London 134, 3 Sardinia Bay 99, 4 Bluewater Bay 90, 5 Kings Beach 70, 6 Hobie Beach 18, 7 Seagulls 7.
