Kings' attack lacking on way to win

EP Kings rugby coach David Maidza bemoaned his team's lack of attacking punch after they scored a narrow 9-6 win over a tenacious Border Bulldogs outfit in a Currie Cup First Division match at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday.

It was only a last-gasp drop goal from fullback Ntabeni Dukisa in the 78th minute that enabled the Kings to snatch a victory, allowing them to walk away with a haul of four vital log points.

"That was not the type of performance we wanted, but we got the win which enabled us to stay in striking distance of the guys at the top," Maidza said.

"I am also happy about the first home win of the season and full marks to Ntabeni for his drop. He did pretty well in the circumstances. But we would have liked to have earned a bonus point.

"We lacked a little patience and calmness in making sure that we finished off better. The wet conditions were not great and we put them under pressure. The Kings had a lot of possession and we should have come away with more."
