Train victim unknown

A man in his late 20s who died after he was hit by a train on Thursday evening as he was crossing railway tracks at the North End railway station in Port Elizabeth has still not yet been identified.

Police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said yesterday no one had come forward to identify the man.

The incident happened between 5pm and 6pm on Thursday.

“He was crossing the railway line and did not see the train coming. The train was delayed for an hour.

“Everything went back to normal after an hour,” Janse van Rensburg said.

She said the police were investigating a case of culpable homicide.
