VIDEO: NMMU shutdown day 2

More than  a thousand Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) students have once again occupied University Way as part of the national #FeesMustFall movement.

This after NMMU vice-chancellor Derrick Swartz refused to address students at the Kraal cafeteria as per their request. Swartz instead said he would address students at the stadium, but they refused.

Students are currently blocking all vehicles from entering or leaving campus and all staff and non-protesting students were reportedly advised to leave campus if at all possible.

Second Avenue campus has since also been evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Chaos erupted yesterday when  police used stun grenades, rubber bullets and teargas to disperse protesting students who blockaded University Way.
