Three arrested on robbery suspicion

OFFICERS of Despatch's visible policing unit arrested three men on Monday on suspicion they were going to rob a shop in the Heuwelkruin area.
Police spotted the occupants of a white Nissan bakkie watching a delivery vehicle off-loading stock at a Meyer Street shop at about 5pm.
When the officers approached the bakkie, it sped off and they gave chase. The vehicle drove into a cul-de-sac where officers arrested all three, aged 20, 26 and 34, and found a 9mm pistol, shotgun and ammunition in their possession.They will appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate's Court today. – Riaan Marais
