ANC big guns jump to defence of Masualle

SUPPORTERS of Eastern Cape ANC provincial chairman Phumulo Masualle have jumped to his defence over reports that R250000 in state funds was deposited into his personal bank account in December.

On Monday it was reported that the cash was meant to cater for unforeseen expenses during the period leading up to former president Nelson Mandela's funeral in December.

Masualle confirmed the deposit but said he had rejected the money.

On Monday he told the ANC's provincial working committee the transaction was later reversed and the money paid back into the provincial treasury's bank account. - Mphumzi Zuzile and Bongani Fuzile
