Plan to fix pool deviates from tender rules

THE ANC in Nelson Mandela Bay is pushing for the city to deviate from tender processes to appoint a company to fix tiles speedily at the Newton Park swimming pool.
This is despite concerns raised by the DA during a meeting yesterday that the company recommended, Ukuzithemba Construction, does not meet all minimum competencies to be awarded the R724 000 tender. The DA has called for the procurement process to start afresh.
But city officials said that would take about six to seven months – further delaying fixing of the pool. - Mkhululi Ndamase
