Admission pressure plaguing schools

CONFRONTED with an influx of applications for admission next year, principals of Nelson Mandela Bay's top schools have called on the Education Department to address problems plaguing the schools that parents and pupils tend to avoid.

Principals urged the department to address the growing trend of pupils flocking to the city's better performing schools, calling on it to help make every school a centre of excellence.

This comes as the schools started getting back the hundreds of application forms they have handed out since opening up the admissions process two weeks ago.

The last day to submit applications for the entry grades R, 1 and 8 is the last day of the school term, March 28. -
