Bathurst Show gets venue for demonstrations

THIS is the first year that the cattle section clubhouse next to the Bull's Inn will be available as a venue for demonstrations and talks at the Bathurst Show.

According to show manager Sakkie Scheepers, cake decorators have already booked a slot. He used agents selling convection ovens and an expert giving a talk on pensioner's finance as examples of who could make use of the clubhouse. The fee will be nominal and visitors to the show will be allowed in for free.

An equine dentist and a farrier will be giving live demonstrations for those who are interested.

Anyone who has a vintage car is invited to take part in the parade, which takes place on Sunday.

With the flea market moving to its new location leading down to the army, there will be more space for stalls.

"We are aware that many people in the area who are good with handcrafts and sell their goods on the weekend. We would like to encourage them to book a stall as we still have some left,” said Scheepers.

Secretary Pam Johnston said scholars between the ages of 10 and 18 are invited to enter the youth section which will have a variety of categories including sheep, cows, goats, pigeons, rabbits and more. This section is organised by the National Agricultural Youth Show Association and those who take part could see themselves making through to the next round which takes place in Pretoria. Popsi the Clown will be at show again this year, and parents have somewhere to leave their children to be looked after and entertained while they walk around. There will be face painting, cookie decorating, balloon animals and other fun activities to keep them amused.
