SA’s loss has proven to be the Cobras’ gain‚ what with Ashwell Prince appointed the franchise’s assistant coach.

The news follows Prince’s confirmation to TMG Digital that he had resigned as a national selector to pursue a career in coaching.

“I would like us as a team to play for one another and to work as a strong unit‚” a Cobras release on Tuesday quoted Prince as saying.

“It is a game of small margins‚ and when it is tight the scales will tilt in the direction of the team with a strong cohesion.”

Prince will take his orders from head coach Paul Adams‚ who is under pressure after his team failed to win a trophy for the first time in eight seasons last summer.

The Cobras finished fourth in the 2015-16 first-class competition after winning only three of their 10 matches.

They reached the final of the one-day tournament‚ which they lost to the Lions‚ and were third in the T20 stakes.

Prince played 53 of his 288 first-class matches for teams from the Western Cape.

Anther former WP and Cobras player‚ Alan Dawson‚ is the Cobras’ new convenor of selectors.
