Focus on Graeme Pollock as Six-a-Side, Pineapple Week also start
CRICKET followers are in for bonanza weekend with a number of highprofile events taking place, starting with a Graeme Pollock benefit day at Grey High today.
Also scheduled for the weekend is the start of the Pineapple Cricket Week tomorrow and the Old Grey six-a-side on Sunday. There are also four NMB Premier League matches to look forward to.
The primary aim of the Pollock day today is to celebrate the achievement of an Old Grey icon and South Africa’s cricketer of the millennium.
The day will start with the first three of cricket matches at 10am, with the Grey first 11 playing an Old Boys side in T20. At 1pm, another Old Boys team will take on Penguins CC in a T10 affair, with the main clash of the day seeing EP Old Boys taking on Transvaal Old Boys at 3pm.
There will be a function in a marquee next to the Pollock Oval tonight with 400 people expected to attend. There will a Pollock tribute and a panel discussion including Peter Kirsten, Dave Callaghan, Pollock and Roy Pienaar.
