IT looks like a tough day at the Fairview race course for everyone, but luckily we have the Eastern Cape Nomads Golf Club to warm things up.

This is the annual race day of this golf club and the guys usually make sure everyone has an enjoyable afternoon.

There is no feature race on the cards, but nine very tough and competitive races await us. To make things even more difficult for punters to find the winners, racing is on the polytrack. Although we have a good idea of what to expect from certain horses, some of them try the surface for the first time. If that is not enough, throw in the predicted rain and strong winds just to make it more interesting.

To pick a banker for your bets is not easy. Cape Sisken in race five looks a strong possibility, but tries the poly for the first time. This three-year-old gelding is also without the services of his regular pilot Richard Fourie, who is injured.

S'manga Khumalo takes the ride and if hard-pressed for a banker, Cape Sisken could be the choice. We tipped you two Place Accumulators in a row now, but go as wide as possible today to complete the hat trick.

It is a bit of a quiet racing weekend but some will not mind a little bit of a breather to build up to the big events.

Tuesday is the moment of truth for some big role players as the final field for this year's Vodacom Durban July will be announced. It is always a bit of a controversial issue about which runners should get in the race. As always, there will be connections that will be disappointed about not having a runner in the big race.

The all-important draw will be even more important this year as the field has been trimmed down to 16 runners.

We have seen a few big names already been withdrawn from the race but it is still a spectacular event to look forward to.
