THE St Andrew's first rugby team produced one of their best performances of the season when they outclassed Queen's 47-17 in Grahamstown at the weekend.

It was a performance they have been threatening to deliver all season and this time the side put together a clinical 70-minute display of rugby.

Queen's started strongly, but after a couple of clean line- breaks, St Andrew's were the first to score, thanks to a good move that was rounded off by Ryan Neill. This was followed by two more tries, the first a brilliant individual effort by Robbie Ball before Hamish Hughes crashed over after another period of sustained pressure.

This allowed St Andrew's to go into the break 19-0 up, having had a surplus of possession in the first half.

Queen's were not to be outdone and scored a great try after half-time, but any thoughts that this might spark a Queen's comeback were quickly put to bed as first Hughes and then Neill grabbed their second tries, and St Andrew's continued to dominate territory and possession.

Queen's did cross the line once more, but St Andrew's immediately responded with two more tries as Ball grabbed his second and Jono More raced in from 20 m out after a good move from a ruck.

Queen's crossed the line for their third try, but St Andrew's had already wrapped up the match for a superb result.
