THE Chevrolet Warriors have landed themselves between a rock and a hard place, needing nothing but a victory at Buffalo Park this evening to keep their RAM Slam T20 Challenge play-off hopes alive when they host the Unlimited Titans.
The Warriors have steadily descended on the log standings, going five matches without a win.
Both sides find themselves in a similar position to last season before their meeting in East London – in search of a victory to increase their play-off chances.
That time the Titans marched on to the final with a four-wicket win.
But Warriors assistant coach Malibongwe Maketha yesterday said they were confident of avoiding deja vu.
"We need no further motivation. We love playing for the East London crowd and we get good results there," he said.
The Warriors lie third on the log on 14 points after seven games, one point behind the cruising Sunfoil Dolphins, who have played only five games.
At the top, the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras are 11 points clear of the Warriors after seven games, having secured themselves a play-off spot already.
The Titans will look to return to winning ways having lost their last two games home and away.
Titans coach and former Proteas fitness trainer Rob Walter's men were overhauled by the Chevrolet Knights by a crushing seven wickets at home before falling short by 13 runs against the Cobras at Newlands.
"The Warriors are a good team and they are always hard to beat in East London but we have a bit more momentum on our side than they do," Walter said.
The Titans beat the Warriors last Wednesday by six wickets at Sahara Willowmoore Park in Benoni.
