A MYBURGH says we should leave Jacob Zuma alone as he is "always pleasant and smiling and never rude" (Your chirps, September 2). Well, I think it was uncommonly rude to use taxpayers' money to build himself a "fire pool", an amphitheatre, a chicken coop and a tuck shop, and to smile like a Cheshire cat while doing so.

As Hamlet remarked: "One may smile, and smile, and be a villain" or perhaps Bob Dylan had it right when he said: "Steal a little and they throw you in jail. Steal a lot and they make you king". For my part, I would rather the man did not smile benignly while he has his hand in my back pocket.
