I FIND it difficult to believe that Angie Motshekga, who presided over one of the most scandal-ridden departments and proved herself incapable of managing it, was returned to the same position as minister of basic education.

The same goes for Blade Nzimande as minister of higher education, who seems to have done very little relevant to his department, and has spent most of his time involved with other issues and blaming whites.

Under them South Africa has been rated as having one of the poorest education systems in the world.

One wonders what criteria were applied by the president to these two.

It cannot be the ability to deliver quality education.
