Parents have ousted principal in sights

Two weeks into the new academic year and schooling at a Uitenhage special school has yet to start in earnest as pupils battle with no money for food and petrol to fetch boarders coming from as far as Mthatha.

About 40 hostel pupils at Mzamomhle Special School have still not started because drivers are unable to collect them from their out-of-town homes, as is the norm.

The pupils were meant to have been collected a few days before schools reopened on January 21.

Some, who were able to make their own way back, had to return home as there was no food in the hostel.

Some day pupils are also bunking school because of food issues. Those who attend get a few slices of bread teachers buy with their own money.
