THE Airports Company of South Africa (Acsa) has invested more than R30-million in the safety of its customers, with four brand new state-of-the-art fire engines in the fire-fighting fleet.

The keys to the four Rosenbauer Panther 6x6 Fire Tenders were handed over to representatives from four regional airports – Port Elizabeth International, Bram Fischer International (Bloemfontein), East London and George – yesterday.

Port Elizabeth International Airport manager Azad Cassim said this R32-million project was in keeping with Acsa protocol for fire trucks to be replaced every 10 years. "The vehicles are valued at R8-million each but are worth every cent. - Tremaine van Aardt
