NELSON Mandela Bay's traffic boss, Hamilton Totoyi, has unveiled an ambitious plan to bolster the city's efforts to collect money owed from traffic fines, which includes procuring the services of a call centre to track down motorists.
The municipality battles to recover millions of rand in outstanding fines every year due to staff shortages.
The city is owed more than R140-million in traffic fines, but it can only act once warrants of arrest on the fines have been issued. - Rochelle de Kock
