THOUSANDS of women – and men dressed in tutus and colourful wigs – swept down Marine Drive on Saturday in the 21st Spar Women's Challenge at Pollok Beach in Port Elizabeth.

This popular race saw 14000 women of all ages, shapes and sizes run for fun and charity.

South African sports heroes including former Springbok captain Corné Krige, ex-Bafana Bafana defender Mark Fish and retired Proteas bowler Makhaya Ntini – stuffed into a purple dress and blonde wig – also dropped in to motivate the runners - Alvené du Plessis
