THE plight of students at the troubled Port Elizabeth College finally got the attention of the highest office in the country yesterday.

And presidential spokesman Mac Maharaj promised a memorandum he had received from students and parents on behalf of President Jacob Zuma would be studied to "find a way forward" in the long crisis.

Students, accompanied by their parents, marched on the City Hall yesterday morning to present the memorandum to Maharaj, who was in town with Zuma. - Zandile Mbabela
