THE man accused of raping a six- year-old girl two years ago saw an opportunity when he realised her mother and family were at a party at a neighbour's house, the Port Elizabeth High Court heard yesterday.

"I put it to you, the reason you left the party is because you knew her relatives were also there and they would stay a long time. You saw an opportunity and kidnapped [her]," state advocate Marlini Moodley said.

Xolile Tose, 33, of KwaNoxolo, who is also known as Bunga, was arrested three weeks after the brutal 15-hour rape of the girl at a house in Motherwell on December 16 2011. -Hendrick Mphande
