WALTER Sisulu University students injured during violent confrontations with armed security guards in Mthatha earlier this week are threatening to sue the university.

Violence erupted on campus on Monday, with security guards using rubber bullets on students protesting against having to pay 50% of their outstanding debts before being allowed to register. New students are required to pay an initial registration payment of R2000.

Meanwhile, teaching has ground to a halt as students have not been to classes all week. – Sikho Ntshobane
