A PORT Elizabeth woman was kidnapped in broad daylight this week and taken to an isolated area where she was gang-raped for several hours.

Details remain sketchy as the woman, 25, was still severely traumatised after being kidnapped from Western Road, Central, at about 5pm on Monday.

Police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the woman – who cannot be named as she is the victim of a sexual crime – was "very traumatised and piecing this puzzle together".

A police officer, who did not want to be named as he is not authorised to speak to the media, said the woman was walking home from work when a car with four men inside stopped next to her.

"One man got out and engaged in conversation with her. He told her he had seen her around and wanted to talk. This was obviously a diversion. Another man got out of the vehicle and forced her into the car, which sped off," the officer said. -
