MONEY cannot buy you love, but it seems that the majority of South Africa's youth would sacrifice their sex life if it meant they could be wealthy.

According to the results of the 2013 Young Africa Live (YAL) annual sex poll released yesterday, 84% of more than 6000 people canvassed would rather have money than sex.

"While not a scientific survey, the opinion poll provides a powerful snapshot into important aspects of sexual knowledge and behaviour in the lives of YAL's mobile platform users, a not inconsequential group of young South Africans," Gustav Praekelt, who started the survey three years ago, said. In this recent survey the majority of voters were female (69%), and most people were between 19 and 24 years old (38%).
