THE Islamic Women's Association operates with the aim of allowing Muslim women to network with one another in educational seminars and workshops which uphold Islamic values.

The association, also known as the Muslim Women's Network (MWN), holds various events which are all equally devoted to uplifting the traditions within the Muslim culture.

For example, during the Ramadhaan drive, toiletry packs are assembled and donated to children's and old age homes.

On Pink Hijab Day, they commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month which is in October. On that day, women wear pink scarves to show support for cancer sufferers.

"When planning, everyone in the network is given the opportunity to bring forth an idea and everyone works together to make a good idea materialise into a spectacular event," MWN vice-chairwoman Maajiedah Hendricks said.

The women's network was established in 2000 for Muslim women to empower and support each other within the community.

MWN has 16 members who oversee the coordinating and functions within the organisation.
