After school she plans to take a gap year first and travel abroad before returning to take up her studies.

She was thinking of entering Miss Port Alfred earlier in the year but finally decided to take the leap after she was encouraged to enter at school.

She has had some experience in modelling having done a studio shoot with Andrew Pampallis so she could put together a portfolio.

"I am keen on modelling but the closest agency is in Port Elizabeth. If I wanted to do it professionally I would pursue it after school,” she said.

In her spare time she likes to read and write and she is already working on a novel. She likes spending time with her friends and going to the beach.

"School takes up most of my time,” she said.

Her role model is her mom Caryn Bruyns who owns Kowie News Agency.

"She is an entrepreneur, she taught me to be independent and follow my dreams. That if you work hard enough you have the power to make them come true,” she said.

If she is crowned the next Miss Port Alfred, she would like to help the SPCA as a community service project.

"They do an amazing job and they could do more if they had more support,” she said.
