MAKUKHANYE Primary in the Jeffreys Bay township of Tokyo Sexwale twinned with St Faith’s school in Cambridge in the UK in 2002.

The school started a non-profit organisation, called St Faith’s organisation, which put all money donated to the school through St Faith’s into the trust account of an attorney.

Last year, a St Faith’s delegation was visiting the schools when Grade 1 pupil Sinethemba Bomvu collapsed due to malnutrition. St Faith’s immediately decided to start a feeding project at the school, naming it the Sinethemba Nutrition Programme.

Grade 3 teacher Nomalusi Williams, who is responsible for nutrition at the school, said that through St Faith’s fundraising efforts, a school hall named the Sally Jones Centre and a kitchen where meals are prepared, was built in the school last year. The food project had helped boost attendance.
