THERE was a solid showing from Jeffreys Bay surfers at the Surfing South Africa Gromcomp in East London on Saturday.
This was a regional Eastern Cape surfing contest for boys u-10 to u-16 and girls u-16 only.
The contest was held at Nahoon Beach in tricky two-to three -foot waves which were changing a lot with the tides, said EC coach, Etienne Venter.
"The local East London surfers were at an advantage with local knowledge, but the Jeffreys Bay surfers quickly found their feet, and the scoring waves,” explained Venter.

Seven surfers from J-Bay were in the various age-division finals.
"Overall it was a very good showing by the surfers from Jeffreys Bay who travelled to East London to surf in the event.
"The J-Bay surfers were standouts throughout all the rounds.
"They certainly made a good name in the tricky beach-break conditions,” said Venter.
