ELEMENT, the skateboarding company in J-Bay, celebrated "International Skateboarding Day” in style last Friday.
"To celebrate the day and honour the art of skateboarding, Element held a ‘Go Skateboarding Day’ event at the Element Jeffreys Bay Skatepark where about 30 children and teens from the area, gathered at the park for a day of skating fun,” said spokeswoman Laura Hoarau.
"From beginners to seasoned skaters, everyone grabbed a board and joined in on the fun.”

Element team rider Damon de Clerq was also there to give the aspiring pros a bit of a master class as well as offering some advice.

Hoarau said Element also sponsored boerewors rolls and juice, which were well received by the then exhausted skaters.
"Straight after their brief lunch break it was back to business and the skating continued long into the afternoon,” she said.

All of the skaters were then rewarded with an Element cap for their dedication to honouring, both the sport and the day.
Founded by the International Association of Skateboard Companies on June 21, 2003 , "International Go Skateboarding Day” is now celebrated by skateboarders and skate enthusiasts all over the world.
"All in all it was an awesome and well-celebrated ‘Go Skateboarding Day’ in J-Bay, ” said Hoarau.
