FRIENDS are people you can always count on and Friends of the Library in Linton Grange Library, are no exception.

Friends of the Library chairwoman Anne Widdows said the group started about 10 years ago and that the 11 members meet once a month.

"Our main aim is to raise funds for the library to buy new books and other odds and ends,” said Widdows.

Fundraising mostly includes book sales every second month as well as bake sales, craft fairs and raffles.

"Most of the books are given to us by the public and we are very fortunate to have the Linton Grange Spar which often supports us with hampers to raffle.

In addition to all the fundraising, the group also collects magazines for children to use for school projects.

The Friends bring in about R2000 a month and there are monthly report backs to the municipality with minutes from all meetings.

There is currently a raffle for a Spar food hamper taking place at the library at R2 a ticket. It closes in September, so get down there and support the Friends.
