LORRAINE lovebirds Kelly and Stefan Ferreira, who won The Herald Bride and Groom 2012 competition, recently came back from their prize trip with the MSC Sinfonia securing a very special and treasured place in their memories. MSC Cruises took the couple on a five-night cruise visiting Walvis Bay and Luderitz in Namibia.

The prize included accommodation, all meals, floor shows and entertainment and was worth R16 000.

“I would just like to make use of this opportunity to thank both The Herald and MSC Cruises for our fantastic prize. The cruise exceeded all my expectations,” Stefan said.

“There are no words to describe our time on the ship. It was, without a doubt, the best holiday I have ever been on.

“They had to drag us off the ship when we arrived back in Cape Town on Saturday!

“I honestly don’t know where the five days went to, and because of all the amazing food I was a little heavier on the flight back to Port Elizabeth.

“Our schedules have always been so crazy and spending this time with Kelly with no cellphones, no work and no disruptions was truly something special.”

Kelly continued: “We truly had the most relaxed holiday we have ever shared as a couple; we sipped our delicious drinks as we sailed into sunsets, ate pizza at midnight, ran laps on the deck, watched entertaining productions in the theatre, tried our hand in the casino, absorbed the natural beauty of Walvis Bay and Luderitz and also enjoyed some extra sleep.

“This prize gave us an unforgettable experience.” The couple agreed that the service onboard was “out of this world”.

“Fernandes, our housekeeper, was so helpful with any query we had.

“At dinner we had two waiters, Suka and Agus, both from Thailand. “Everything was of five-star quality. What legends,” Stefan said.

Sun International sales executive Stefan and Victoria Park High School teacher Kelly were announced winners at the cocktail finale held at Thunzi Bush Lodge last year.

The couple were popular winners in the readers’ choice competition running in The Herald over five weeks, and the judging panel consisting of former Methodist minister George Irvine – married for 52 years – the winners of the 2011 competition, Yolanda and Nkosinathi Tshambo, and La Femme editor Gillian McAinsh agreed with the readers.

It looks like this year’s winners – Kim and Marc Chong-Seng – have something special to look forward to when they take up their prize from MSC Cruises of a holiday to Maputo and the Portuguese Island in Mozambique.
