PORT Elizabeth parents are invited to bring their children to a free family health day at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in North End in the school holidays.

The Rotary Family Health Day will be held from 9am to 3pm, Wednesday to Friday next week, at the stadium – enter through the north or south gates – to promote good physical and mental health.

The event aims to promote healthy living and prevent disease via an annual campaign of comprehensive free health care services to tens of thousands of people across the country.

Services over the three days will include HIV counselling and testing, screening for TB, diabetes and blood pressure, measles vaccinations, de-worming, dispensing Vitamin A and more.

The attraction for visitors is the comprehensive, holistic offering of free healthcare for parents, children, grandparents, friends and all family members in over 145 sites, including Port Elizabeth.

The global Rotarian Action Group, Rotarians for Family Health and AIDS Prevention (RFHA) are leading it and working with the Department of Health, the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and private enterprise. Approximately 4000 Rotarians from 225 clubs will be volunteering daily and working the sites to assist the medical staff.
