SEACOM has announced plans to invest significantly in cloud infrastructure in South Africa and Kenya‚ as it takes aim at smaller businesses.
The African information and communications technology (ICT) company said it had seen the potential of growth in the two territories following the success of its premier cloud offering‚ Pamoja‚ in east Africa.
The service has been widely used by solution integrators and internet service providers within the region.
Claire Kaguara‚ regional channel manager for Pamoja Cloud Services‚ said the company's services were unique since they were built around the requirements of small- and medium-sized businesses in Africa.
The company said the Pamoja business model relied on channel partners to resell the services to small- business customers‚ and there was tremendous interest.
"Pamoja's Cloud Services' business model is built on the growing demand for information technology as a service to small- and medium enterprises‚ coupled with the need for service providers to increase the value of their existing offerings and grow brand revenue‚" Kaguara said.
Pamoja Cloud Services was launched in east Africa in April. – BDlive
