Constable’s execution ‘a gang hit’

A GELVANDALE police station officer, shot 12 times in an execution-style murder, was allegedly killed by a hit squad linked to a gang of robbers.

This was revealed yesterday when a team of Port Elizabeth’s top cops said they had solved the murder of police constable Siyabulela Mtshekisa who was followed by “known gangsters” before being shot 12 times in Salamntu Street, Kwazakhele, last month.

Authorities said Mtshekisa’s execution was linked to a group of gangsters who targeted him for being – as the suspects told police – a “thorn in their side”.

The gang is believed to be linked to the hit squad part of the notorious 28s prison gang who were responsible for the execution of at least 100 state witnesses in robbery and hijacking cases in Nelson Mandela Bay over the past two years.
