Bay agency to focus on dilapidated buildings

THE Mandela Bay Development Agency will be in charge of investigating and revitalising all dilapidated and derelict buildings in the metro.

At an economic development committee meeting yesterday, head of department Anele Qaba said: "It is critical a strong focus is directed on these buildings in order to revive them. "The MBDA is already playing a critical role in this space, a case in point is that of the old ice rink building [which] has been turned around."

He wants the MBDA to have a separate property division focusing on the rundown buildings. – Rochelle de Kock
