Premier hears Kareedouw's problems during visit

GOING for days without water, schoolchildren taught in a language they do not understand and allegations of rogue cops in bed with druglords.

These are some of the problems Eastern Cape premier Phumulo Masualle was bombarded with when he visited Kareedouw yesterday.

Residents also complained of high unemployment and shoddily built RDP houses.

Masualle had gone to launch public service month at the Kareedouw Community Hall in Koukamma Municipality, in the Sarah Baartman region, with some of his MECs.

In response, the premier said he would ensure that in the next two weeks officials from different departments would be available in the town to address some of the problems.

However, some who attended the launch called for urgent action to address problems they said had persisted for years. - Mkhululi Ndamase
